Volunteers Needed!

The Posses of Sun City West are need of your help! It takes a lot of passionate, dedicated and skilled volunteers to effectively address seniors’ safety concerns that the Sheriff’s Office has neither time nor resources to pursue.

You most likely have seen us patrolling the streets of Sun City West, but we are much more than a patrolling Posse.  We serve the residents through many other services as well.

Do you enjoy community service, want meaningful work, and an opportunity to make a difference in our community?  Then please consider joining the Sun City West Posse.

No prior law enforcement experience is required and all training is provided free of charge!

General Information:

  1. The Posse is a working group and not a social organization.
  2. Service with the Posse is strictly voluntary, without remuneration.
  3. You must serve in a probationary status for six (6) months.
  4. Any equipment issued to you is Posse property, and must be returned upon termination.
  5. Your ID card is Posse property, and must be returned upon termination.
  6. You will be subject to and governed by the Posse by-laws, rules and regulation

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident (Min. of 6 months in calendar year) of Sun City West/Corte Bella
  • You have no felony convictions
  • You are in reasonably good health
  • Have good communication skills
  • You successfully pass a background check

Dispatch & Patrol

Dispatch

Responsibilities: Assign patrol cars to medical and fire calls for service, resident welfare checks, traffic accidents, and other community needs.
Skills required: Enjoy multitasking, good organization & communication skills, comfortable working with a computer
Time commitment: Four 7 hour shifts per month

Patrol

Responsibilities: Note: The Posse is NOT law enforcement! The Posse patrols the streets of Sun City West as the eyes and ears of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Specific duties may include assistance at traffic accidents, protection of fire equipment and ambulances, performing welfare checks, and other community services.
Skills required: Enjoy multitasking, good organization & communication skills, comfortable working with a computer
Time commitment: Four 7 hour shifts per month

Non-Patrolling Positions

Reception

Responsibilities: Greet residents who visit the Posse office and answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Skills required: Pleasant disposition, good communication skills, mid-level computer skills, multitasking ability
Time commitment: Two 4 hour shifts per month, Mon. – Fri. only. No weekends or holidays!

Auto Maintenance

Responsibilities: Basic and preventive maintenance of the Posse’s fleet of 20 Ford vehicles in our fully equipped and air-conditioned garage.
Skills required: Basic mechanical aptitude and desire to work on cars

Data Processing & Entry

Responsibilities: Accurately input updated homeowner and tenant information such as phone numbers and emergency contacts.
Skills required: Comfortable with accurately entering data on a desktop computer

Photographer

Responsibilities: Photographing of Posse events such as general meetings, parties, and other functions.
Skills required: Experience with digital cameras, photo editing software
